As pickleball continues its meteoric rise across the U.S., Bosse, a 100,000-square-foot facility in Natick, Massachusetts, is garnering attention for its premium offerings, unique partnerships and cool experiences.
Designed to be much more than just a collection of courts, Bosse merges pickleball with high-end dining, fitness and entertainment to create a vibrant hub for players and socializers alike. Scheduled to open on November 26, the complex is set to redefine how people experience pickleball and community.
“What can I design and create that would really check all the boxes for pickleball?” DJ Bosse, the facility’s founder, asked himself. This question inspired a vision for a comprehensive destination that caters to beginners, seasoned players and those seeking a dynamic social environment.
The result? A facility boasting 21 pickleball courts, a sports lounge with golf simulators and four dining concepts led by renowned chef Chris Coombs, the co-founder of Bosse.
“Chris is a four-star chef, and when I asked him for recommendations on food, he said, ‘Why not me?’” Bosse recalled, highlighting the unique partnership.
In addition to the courts and culinary offerings, Bosse provides fitness programs and pickleball education for all ages, ensuring the facility is not just a place to play but a hub for personal growth and wellness.
From the moment the concept was announced, community excitement has been palpable. “Our pickleball membership is exceeding expectations,” said Bosse. “We’ve checked every box and beyond on early signups, on people who want to tour, and on people who want to join. It’s really amazing.”
This overwhelming response underscores the demand for premium pickleball facilities that integrate social and lifestyle elements.
To ensure an unmatched experience, Bosse has formed partnerships with key players in the industry. A collaboration with Franklin Sports addresses the fragmented market for pickleball equipment, providing members access to top-tier paddles, balls and training tools.
“Educating the player and the community is such a big part of what we want to do,” said Bosse. “That’s why we partnered with Franklin Sports. They will be doing R&D at the facility. We’re very excited to partner with a cutting-edge company like Franklin Sports.”
Additionally, the facility includes a DraftKings-sponsored lounge featuring golf simulators, darts, a sports theater, full bar and food and beverage service further enhancing its appeal as a multi-dimensional destination.
Bosse goes beyond sports, embracing the lifestyle aspects of pickleball. In collaboration with designers John Targon and Jessica Knez Dulac, the facility is launching a custom clothing line to reflect pickleball’s growing cultural impact.
“We want to provide the best experience for our members, including branded apparel that speaks to their connection with the sport,” said Bosse.
The facility itself is a marvel of adaptive reuse, transforming the former Neiman Marcus retail space into a bustling hub for recreation and community.
Bosse’s origins trace back to the pandemic, when D.J. Bosse and his family discovered pickleball as a way to stay active and connected. What began as a family hobby quickly evolved into a passion for creating something extraordinary.
“During COVID, we started playing pickleball as a family and realized how fun and social it is,” recalled Bosse. “I looked at it and thought, let’s create something unique — something that provides everything in one location.”
This passion has fueled Bosse’s commitment to innovation and excellence, aiming to elevate pickleball’s role in fitness and culture.
With its focus on community, innovation and partnerships, Bosse is more than just a place to play — it’s a destination that celebrates the sport and the connections it fosters.
“Our goal is to provide the best of the best,” said Bosse. “We wanted to create something that’s truly special.”
