In Kansas City, SERV has emerged as a dynamic and innovative “eatertainment” venue, blending dining, live events, pickleball, cornhole and more into a unique experience for all ages.
Open for just over a year and a half, SERV has quickly found its place as a hub for both leisure and corporate activities, offering a diverse array of experiences that cater to families, singles and corporate clients alike.
The Vision Behind SERV
SERV was conceived by an ownership group with deep roots in multifamily development in the Kansas City Metro Area. The group sought to transform an underutilized surface lot into a vibrant space that would serve the local community.
“The idea was to create something different that would appeal to a wide audience, including singles, families, retirees and the nearby residential community,” said Kyla Bradley, the chief marketing and business development officer at SERV.
A Hub for Events and Activities
One of SERV’s standout features is its versatility in hosting events. From live music and sports watch parties to pickleball tournaments, the venue offers a wide range of activities that draw diverse crowds. “We tell our corporate and nonprofit clients, ‘If you can think it up, we’ll figure out a way to do it,’” said Bradley.
Corporate events, in particular, have become a significant part of SERV’s business, making up approximately 50% of its revenue. The venue’s blend of competitive activities and team-building opportunities has made it a popular choice for companies looking to engage their teams in a dynamic setting.
“Our space offers the perfect environment for team-building through activities like pickleball and cornhole,” said Bradley.
Pickleball: A Core Attraction
While SERV offers a variety of activities, pickleball remains a core attraction. The venue boasts both indoor and outdoor courts, thoughtfully designed to provide an optimal playing experience.
“People love our courts,” said Bradley. “Our developers did a great job on the design, ensuring ample space for players. We have heaters in our indoor arena for the colder months and a full garage door wall for that indoor-outdoor feel.”
SERV’s pickleball courts are bustling from morning to night, attracting both competitive and social players.
“Pickleball is a big driver for our business, and we’re seeing a growing interest in the sport,” said Bradley.
Agility and Customer Focus: Keys to Success
Reflecting on SERV’s journey, Bradley emphasized the importance of convenience and customer experience in the venue’s success. “Convenience is everything nowadays,” she said. “With such a big property, we’ve learned to make it as easy as possible for our customers to enjoy their time here, whether they’re playing a game or grabbing a bite to eat.”
All of SERV’s food and beverage offerings are managed in-house, allowing the venue to maintain consistent quality and service. “We own and operate all five of our food concepts, which allows us to control the kitchens, menus and operating hours,” Bradley explained. “This ensures that everything is open and available to our customers when they need it.”
Looking ahead, SERV has plans to scale its concept to other markets. “The goal is to scale eventually, but we want to perfect what we have here before expanding,” said Bradley.
As SERV continues to refine its offerings and explore new opportunities, it remains committed to providing a fun, convenient and engaging experience for all who visit.
