In 2023, The Sports Haus was founded to provide a unique, indoor sports experience to the community of Norwalk, Connecticut. The facility boasts four indoor pickleball courts, five indoor padel tennis courts, and two high-tech golf simulators.
With a keen focus on providing a consistent, weather-proof playing experience, Patricio Misitrano, the chief sports officer of The Sports Haus, emphasized the uniqueness of their indoor courts.
“Our pickleball courts are all standalone, surrounded by a permanent 4-foot fence, boast 23- to 25-foot ceilings, and each court is equipped with lighting bright enough to broadcast a professional sporting event.”
Addressing the decision to operate solely indoor courts, Misitrano cited the unpredictable Northeast weather as a major factor. “Rain, cold weather and wind are the reasons why we decided to do everything indoors,” he said. “Weather in the Northeast is not always consistent. By offering indoor courts, the experience is always the same, regardless of the weather.”
The Sports Haus has adopted a hybrid access model, catering to both the public and members. “We are open to the public and have a membership model as well,” said Misitrano. “The membership model/benefits are for players who will come more often and get priority signups, lower pricing, free open play and member-only events. Being open to the public also allows us to include folks who, for many reasons, can play fewer times per month. Our membership commitment is month to month.”
Looking ahead, Misitrano outlined his vision for The Sports Haus, aiming to foster the padel tennis and pickleball communities while creating a vibrant space for connection, fun and new friendships.
When asked about the keys to their success, Misitrano credited the “amazing staff, our connections in the racquet industry, and the incredible support of the community. Everyone wants us to do well.”
For aspiring pickleball operators, Misitrano advised creating inclusive programs, events and tournaments that cater to players of all levels and reasons for playing. This inclusive approach is reflective of The Sports Haus’s ethos, emphasizing the importance of community and accessibility in the world of sports.
As The Sports Haus continues to grow and impact the sports landscape in Connecticut, its unique blend of facilities, community-focused approach and innovative offerings set a new standard.
